I went to my sister’s college day function today as she was receiving some certificate. For some reason, the way the function started reminded me of my school day celebrations. Every year in school, the students would put up a show for the benefit of all the parents. The college day seemed to be no different.
However, it was what came next that brought me back to reality – the long speeches and then the prize distribution ceremony, a feature that was lacking in the school day celebrations. However, I did find that the entire function did have a kind of college enthu that you wouldn’t really find in a school. But then again, it definitely didn’t match up to the kind of screaming that we would have done in our days in the college.
On a side note, once the function was nearing completion, we planned to leave, only to find ourselves locked in. There were two security guards, one on the inside and the other outside, both of them insisting that they didn’t have the key. It took a bit of cajoling and a lot more angry shouting to convince them to open the gate some ten minutes later…
