Remember the panicky kernel? Kernel panics. I junk it.
Besides, the modem itself behaves just nicely as a firewall/router…

Hi Nirenjan,
Mind telling in a sentence or two what all this kernel panicking is all about

@Optimist: Nothing really, I have an old Pentium II 233 MHz PC with 128 MB RAM & 10 GB hard disk. I wanted to try to convert that into a router/firewall to isolate my remaining PCs from the net. It turned out that one of the RAM chips on that PC had gone bad and was causing a kernel crash everytime I tried to install one of the special distros.
In the end, I would up using the DSL modem itself as the router/firewall. That P-II machine is now useful only for those ancient games that the modern PC’s won’t run - namely, Duke Nukem, Doom, Descent, Wolfenstein, (all games written before 1997)…
