Spam Referrals

I was looking over my server logs this morning when I found that a relatively large number of page requests came as a single request from a particular IP and a referrer with names like poker, loans, porn, you get the drift… What concerns me is that could this be detrimental to my site’s future? Any suggestions out there?

    Hmm.
I have never got such spams.
I guess blogs where you own the domain attract spams. Never seen one on blogger, yet.

Actually, I’m not talking about comment spam, but spam of a different kind. If you see your server access logs - something which is impossible on BlogSpot :) - you notice that some of the requests are like this: a single request from a particular IP address for any page, and the referring URL has a spam-like look. After that one request, no more occur, at least for a while.

About comment spam on Blogger, the spam bots have to go through multiple levels - first the blog owner has to enable anonymous comments, and then the comment form itself is at a different location - you need to traverse both the post page and then get to the comment page, too much work for a spam bot.

    That’s my theory anyway…
