Chennai Buses
Daniel Russell wrote this article in today’s Hindu. He certainly knew what he was talking about. Everyday, starting at 7 in the morning, the buses are packed like sardines in a can. You don’t usually get a seat unless you get on at the terminus. The buses are like this throughout the day, and the load lessens after around 9 in the night and sometimes during the afternoon. The bus which I usually take - 29C - is jam-packed at all times, forcing me to wait for the next bus, which is, more often than not, even more crowded!
It’s a very rare occasion that you see a bus in the middle of it’s journey that’s not crowded. The only bus I’ve seen that’s not usually crowded is 23A. The only thing is that it fills up after I board the bus and get a seat. ![]()

LOL!
Ada Paavi! KK!
Anyway, the Englishman’s article, though an Englishman’s article, was a good read.

Hi, Nirenjan. Little late, my comment here. Anyway. Lots of things can be written about being in MTC buses, rush hour or no but none of it can be considered printable - here or anywhere! Daniel has been kind, to say the least!
